Indonesia Open Badminton Updates-
B Sai Praneeth has won Thailand Open Championship after Singapore open.. to become new poster boy of Indian Badminton!! Currently standing at no 15 in world men ranking!! Prime Minister Narendra Modi Congratulated him for his achievements! Sai Praneeth has suffered loss in 1st round of Indonesia Open loosing out by 21-13, 21-18.
Saina Nehwal the bronze Olympic medalist winner for India, won first round heroically against Thailands’ Intanon by 17-21, 21-18, 21-12, but could not make it through 2nd round losing out by 5-21, 21-6, 16-21. Saina had could not reach the finals of Thailand Open as well. She would be participating in US open for first time.
Silver girl of Badminton PV Sindhu has had same fate as Saina in Indonesia open, won first round in straight 21-12, 21-19 and lost 2nd round by 21-15, 12-21, 18-21. Both the players have to rethink their strategy and win coming tournaments.
Kidambi Srikanth has won the 2nd round with fighting spirit beating Jorgonsen by 21-15, 20-22, 21-16 and reached quarter finals of Indonesia Open.
Pronnoy H S has also reached the quarters by beating LEE chong wei in straight sets of 21-10, 21-18.
In Men’s doubles, Chirag Shetty- Satwiksairaj and Women’s doubles Ashwini Ponappa could not reach 2nd rounds of the Open.
Hockey Updates-
Indian Hockey team has won semi-final opening match against Scotland by 4-1 goals. From Indian side Ramandeep Singh has strike 2 goals at 31st and 34th min. Akashdeep and Harmanpreet has also scored 1 goal each. From Scotland, Captain Chris Grassick had scored 1 goal at the 6th min of match putting India under pressure.
Chess Updates -
Former World Chess champion Viswanathan Anand is playing in Altibox Norway Chess Tournament. Anand has so far won one match in 6th round beating Fabiano Caruana of US. Before this he had scored 3 draws and 2 losses playing below expectations.
Shooting World Cup updates-
Jitu Rai and Heena Sidhu have won Gold medal for India in 10m air pistol event in International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup at Gabala, Azerbaijan. The Mixed team air pistol event has been added in 2020 Olympic as well giving hopes for medal starving India. Heena has appreciated the help received from OGQ_India physiotherapists.
Archery World Cup -
India’s Mixed Compound Team Abhishek Verma and Divya Dahal have won bronze medal finishing 4th in Archery world cup in Antalya, Turkey.
Lovelina Borgohain has secured Bronze for boxing event for India in President’s cup in Kazakhstan.
Other news from the sports - Indian Billiards player Pankaj Advani has expressed opinion that ‘Sports person has be to the center of Policy’ in discussion with Sports Minister Vijay Goyal. Nagpur City will be witnessing 4 Badminton tournaments in June and July giving encouragement to school children in city. Rohan Bopann has reached London for upcoming Wimbledon Tournament.
